DON'T BUY Tri-Motor Tesla Cybertruck For RoboTaxi?… tri finance

by adminHanoiHalongTour

In today’s video we talk about why buying Tesla’s Tri-Motor Cybertruck pickup truck may be a bad purchase for the future of autonomous driving robotaxis. Because of the $20,000 to $30,000 price difference the Tri-Motor Tesla Cybertruck has compared to the other variants… Its difficult to see a way for being more profitable compares to its less expensive vehicle models. I believe people have not looked into the price structure of the Cybertruck closely enough. Despite other vehicle models like Model Y, Model 3, and so on being capable of autonomous mobility, Cybertruck deserves the most attention because Elon Musk is allowing FSD software lock in prices…. THANKS FOR WATCHING! -Nico Disclaimer: nothing in this video is financial advice whatsoever and are simply my personal opinions and speculations. ,

I wish there was a cheaper version that came with a 500 mile range that’s the main factor that matters for me.

You’ve completely missed some key factors that swing the equation the other way:

Firstly, the tri-motors are being built (and delivered) first, then the duals and finally the singles. If you only order single-motor CTs, then by the time you get yours, there will already be plenty of dual and tris on the RoboTaxi network already… and will have potentially already driven the cost per mile down, cutting into your earning potential.

Secondly, it’s highly likely that the single-motor CTs will never be built. Tesla have form for announcing entry-level cars that later get pulled. If you just order singles, you are running a serious risk that your order is never actually fulfilled.

Thirdly, I believe that the RT network will primarily focus on longer distance travel (city to city). In other words, Tesla will be seeking to win market share from train and coach companies rather than competing with Uber / Lyft etc. The earnings potential for these sort of journeys is much higher than for short urban trips around a city, and much more suited to bigger batteries.

Yes, I take the point that you can buy (nearly) 2 singles for every tri… but if you have to wait an extra 2 or 3 years (if ever) to actually get them… what’s the point?

I’ve spread my risk by reserving equal quantities of each type. That way I cam choose to go ahead with each order or cancel on an individual basis at the time, with next to zero risk.

Great points. But, not sure I'd want to have my Teslas doing robotaxi until they build them without the steering wheel. The last thing I need is a bunch of drunk robotaxi customers deciding to take over the steering wheel and going on a "joy ride". Also, need to have a water proof interior as well so that I can just wash out the vomit with a water hose. I live in Las Vegas … we have an ample supply of drunk taxi customers (and vomit) here.

If your Cybertruck Robotaxi is going to be used for things like towing camp trailers or carrying heavy cargoes, that will cut effective range by up to 50%, so it might make sense to order a Tri-Motor if you want the option of sending the truck out for utility use.

Since Robotaxis will not be able to access the Tesla Supercharger Network (see the "Fair Use Policy" in the pre-order agreement), the truck will also need to have the range to get back to your home base if it's being used for camping trips and the like.

Every person should reserve at least 1 Cybertruck for the purpose of locking in FSD. Even if you are skeptical of the robotaxi network launching within the next few years, you have nothing to lose by depositing $100 now (and taking the refund later if FSD is still not fully developed). Elon himself (as well as Zac and Jesse from Tesla Time News) has said that the price of FSD can reach as high as $100,000 when robotaxies are fully developed. Something important to keep in mind, the single motor Cybertruck is expected to deliver late 2022, 1 year later than the dual and tri. This gives the AI software another year to develop and take in more data, which is a TON of time considering that autonomous miles is exponentially growing.

Eh, I have to disagree, logistically if a robotaxi charged and discharged between 20% and 80% would give a 300mile range vs 150. By keeping your batteries between 20 and 80% you can effectively get 6000 cycles w/o degrading your battery. Also, you'll spend 1/2 the time refilling because you can take advantage of the high rate of charging below 90% for more miles effectively.

I could see the larger pack size increasing utilization rates and thus generating more revenue, which would need to be included in the math. This is especially if "surge pricing" is a thing and the lower range model misses out due to more frequent charging requirements.

One factor I haven’t heard is the time requirement for recharging. That time spent earning money, while others are at the charging station will add up.

The Cybertruck will be a complete new vehicle system it look like it will look like that for years, so get the cheap one and down the line. The case here is for a future plan that does not need 500 miles. Being an electric car owner, more than 250MIL is enough. Taking into consideration you can charge overnight. Also most people can not drive 250 miles straight that have to go to eat and so forth, and write there the vehicle goes to juice up. i have done trips and it works out well.
The three motors is like for those that live on the wilderness or places where chargers are not dance enough. Now Tesla chargers are plenty in cities or near cities.

You make an interesting case….My thinking is however, that I would not want to charge the vehicle frequently…every time you charge you take it off the circuit…and will I be available to plug it in?….You do make some good points however…I'm scratching my head…Oh, well I have a couple of years to think about it…and two orders a 300 mile and a 5oo…

This argument only makes sense if you are buying primarily as a robotaxi. But to purchase a vehicle on the promise of this coming to fruition soon is foolish. We are likely many years of technological development and legislation away from full non-supervised FSD.

For me, I'm not phased by the price jump because of the phenomenal range, as someone who lives in the cold part of Canada with the closest Level 3 charger being 400km away.

I'd prefer a single motor with larger battery but that is not an option.

Honestly, there's no promise that robo taxi service will even be ready in the next year YTD. It's possible that robo taxi capability with state approval will be ready in the next 5 years. So might as well enjoy all the POWER!!!!
